Warehouse Technician (Sound & Lighting / Events)
Job Title: Warehouse Technician
Reports to: Warehouse Manager
Location: Chelmsford CM3 8EB
Contract: Full-time, Permanent
Role Purpose
To support the Warehouse Manager with the preparation, maintenance, and organisation of event equipment. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in sound, lighting, or AV (e.g. theatre, holiday parks, student productions) who wants to build a career in live events. The Warehouse Technician will prep and de-prep kit, maintain equipment, support the smooth running of the warehouse, and take part in onsite event work as needed.
Key Responsibilities
- Equipment Preparation & Return
Prep sound, lighting, video, and staging equipment for upcoming events.
De-prep, clean, test, and re-store returned equipment to ensure it’s ready for the next use. - Warehouse Organisation & Stock Control
Keep the warehouse tidy, organised, and safe.
Help manage storage, labelling, and stock checks, supporting efficient daily operations. - Equipment Maintenance
Carry out basic maintenance, electrical tests (PAT equivalents), and first-line repairs under guidance.
Identify damaged or faulty kit and log it clearly for further repair or replacement. - Event Support & Deliveries
Assist with deliveries, collections, and small onsite setups.
Opportunity to crew full events alongside the wider technical team as skills grow. - Quality & Standards
Maintain a high standard of equipment presentation and readiness.

Essential

- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to lift and handle equipment safely
Desirable
- Experience driving large vans / long-wheelbase vehicles
- Towing experience or willingness to be trained
- Electrical testing experience (PAT / in-service inspections)
- Awareness of LOLER and safe lifting practices

Hire Co-ordinator
The Role
We are looking to recruit a Hire Coordinator on a full time contract who will be part of a team responsible for the day-to-day running of an increasingly busy hire and events department. They will be the contact point for the customer in the first instance.
Reports To
The Hire Coordinator will report to the Director.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Taking hire enquiries via telephone and email.
- Quoting customers on their requirements, and managing expectations
- Operate rental software to raise quotes, job confirmation and invoices
- Checking availability of equipment and ensuring that equipment statuses are always up to date on our systems.
- Liaise with the warehouse to ensure customers jobs are completed as required
- Processing, and correctly storing delivery/collection notes.
- Communicating effectively with other colleagues, and providing a helpful and friendly point of contact for enquiries.
- Recharges/Damage and Loss; ensuring these are dealt with in a timely manner, notifying customers of any further charges.
- Ensure that all administration tasks and processes are accurate and kept up to date.

Hours of Work

About Spotlight Sound
We’re an Essex-based event production and AV installation company. Two core divisions:
- Events: staging, sound and lighting for corporate events and live shows
- Installations: sound, lighting and video systems for pubs, bars, clubs, schools, churches and venues
We complete around a thousand jobs a year, built on strong delivery and repeat custom. We’re now looking to formalise an outbound sales function.
The opportunity
Build and run an effective sales engine. You’ll own pipeline, outreach and reporting, with HubSpot as the centre of gravity. Your time will be focused on three area:
- Turning past installs into annual service contracts
- Prospecting and closing new installation and event projects
- Winning new venue partnerships

Junior Audio Visual Engineer
Junior Audio-Visual Engineer – Service & Install Team
The Role
Spotlight Sound are looking for a Junior AV Engineer to join our Service & Install team. This is a hands-on role where you’ll be fault-finding, servicing, and installing AV, sound, and lighting systems. We need someone who, will be confident working independently on-site, can problem-solve on the spot, and takes pride in delivering great work. The Junior AV Engineer will report to the Senior Service Engineer.
Responsibilities and Duties
Keeping Customers Happy
- Diagnosing and fixing issues with AV, sound, and lighting systems on-site.
- Giving clear, practical advice to clients on how to use and maintain their systems.
- Representing Spotlight Sound professionally, with friendly and confident communication.
Working With the Team
- Advising on any parts or equipment needed to complete jobs efficiently.
- Keeping in touch with the office and warehouse team for scheduling and updates.
Making a Commercial Impact

Core Responsibilities and Daily Tasks
On-Site Work & Service Calls
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues efficiently.

Travel & Site Locations
- Hours are 08:00-16:00 with expectation that the Engineer is on site ready to start at 08:00, this does not include the travel time. Where jobs are significant distance away the Director will take this into consideration. The Engineer is expected to ensure time is fully utilised with any downtime being spent at the warehouse or on the next job as needed.
- The role involves daily travel, covering sites across the region. Current outer limits are London, Norwich, and Peterborough, but work will take place anywhere in between – this is not definitive and may change as needed
Warehouse & Van Maintenance
- Keeping company vans stocked and clean, so they’re ready for the next job.
- Organising tools, cables, and spare parts to minimise downtime and avoid unnecessary second visits.
- Helping out in the warehouse with inventory checks and equipment maintenance when needed.

The Role
